"These environs are simple, peaceful, and nourishing. A sense of unity occurs when one stands alone in a field with grain, sky, wind, and color as companions. I am in pursuit of the experiential expression." "John J Domont has virtually reinvented Indiana landscape painting over the past few years. In the process, he has created a body of work that has struck a deep chord with a large public that finds in his work an Indiana they have experienced but rarely seen portrayed." -Nuvo Newsweekly, 2007 John Domont is also known for his series of Begging Bowl images, paintings that express the spirituality of human existence. "The begging bowl is, for me, an artistic metaphor for receptivity and acceptance. It is as well an allegory for the body and the soul, the physical and the non-physical. We are all beggars of a fashion. I paint the begging bowls that come to me in dreams, meditation or reverie." His figurative works are seen in the Journey series, a poetic response to the path of learning and becoming. Mr. Domont's work honors the harmony of the seen and the unseen, fusing beauty and content. The contemporary photography of John J Domont is the achievement of 45 years work with this medium. These images are about the human spirit and our relationship with nature. The Domont Studio Gallery located in the historic Fletcher Place Neighborhood of downtown Indianapolis.
